Physical Therapy Offered Services
Physical Therapy Evaluations
Evaluations are 60 minutes, one-on-one, sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We begin every Physical Therapy Evaluation with a conversation so that we are able to develop a greater understanding of your pain/condition and health history. This is followed by a thorough physical examination, often consisting of mobility assessment, strength testing, functional movement analysis, etc. Once your examination has been completed, we will thoroughly explain our findings to you and answer any questions you may have. On day one, we begin treatment to start you on your journey to feeling better. A personalized plan of care will be created and tailored to your specific needs.
Physical Therapy Treatment Session
Physical Therapy Treatment Sessions will follow a Physical Therapy Evaluation. These treatment sessions are 60-minutes and are one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. These Follow-up sessions often consist of these components, as appropriate: recap since last session, movement analysis or retesting, manual therapies, therapeutic exercise, home exercise planning, etc.
Physical Therapy Service
Included below are descriptions of some of our specific physical therapy services. Services will be recommended following a Physical Therapy Evaluation and when deemed appropriate by therapist clinical judgment.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a modality used to treat myofascial pain. The word “myofascial” is made up of the roots “myo” (which refers to muscle) and “fascia” (which refers to the tissue that connects muscle). We perform both trigger point dry needling as well as neurologic dry needling for pain management and sports rehabilitation. Pain and trigger points affect how your body moves and dry needling changes the way the brain and muscles talk to each other to let the system return to a more normal movement pattern.
Manual Therapy
The term “manual therapy” is really a large umbrella under which many specific hands-on physical therapy techniques reside. Some manual techniques performed at Bee Well include, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, strain counterstrain, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, scar mobilization, manual lymphatic drainage, muscle energy techniques, Mulligan techniques, traction, joint mobilization, joint manipulation/thrust, etc.
Gait/Running Analysis
Gait or running analysis is a technique used to assess the dynamic postures and coordination that occur during movement. These analyses allow us to break down the various components of motion during a task and gain information on how to improve upon them for improved efficiency and decreased pain.
Movement/Sport Screening
Whether it is a sport-specific motion or a common movement in your daily activities that have proven to be problematic, we can analyze this motion and implement appropriate modifications or changes for optimal efficiency and to decrease your pain.
Post-Operative Rehab
We cannot stress the importance of physical therapy following surgical intervention enough. Post-operative rehab often consists of re-establishing joint mobility, muscle control, and overall function. We provide specific plans of care tailored for individuals requiring post-operative rehabilitation, such as total knee replacement, ACL tear recovery, Rotator cuff repair, etc.
Injury Prevention
One of our favorites! Physical therapists are well known for our ability to help patients recover from injuries, however we are also trained to help prevent an injury before it even happens. At Bee Well, we are able to identify body imbalances and risk factors that may predispose an individual to injury or may be inhibiting their optimal performance. Have a big event or sports season approaching? There is nothing more frustrating than dedicating the time toward training but an injury keeps you from your race or big event. This time be proactive and consider injury prevention!
